Check available funds, outgoing-wire access and account rules before using money held in savings for a Bitcoin purchase.

Money held in a savings account may be usable for a Bitcoin purchase, but the payment path depends on the bank, the account and the purchase provider. Some savings accounts support outgoing domestic wires. Others may require a transfer to another eligible account you own first.
Before funding a Crypto Dispensers request, tell our team that the funds are in savings. Confirm the originating account and payment are accepted for your request, complete the required checks and wait for approved instructions. A savings-account label alone does not establish eligibility.
| What to check | Checking account | Savings account |
|---|---|---|
| Outgoing domestic wire | Confirm the bank supports it for your account and payment. | Confirm direct outgoing wire access. A generic “transfer” button may only offer ACH. |
| Available funds | Check holds and the amount available to send. | Check deposit holds, withdrawal availability and any transfer restrictions. |
| Account rules | Ask about daily limits, fees and bank cutoffs. | Also ask about withdrawal frequency, minimum balance and account-specific conditions. |
| Ownership | Use the verified account and approved instructions. | The same ownership and purchase checks still apply. |
An account at a bank and a brokerage cash product are not automatically interchangeable. Use the brokerage guide for funds held with a broker.
Savings account → approved domestic bank wire → purchase review → final-price approval → Bitcoin delivery. Use this only when both the bank and purchase team approve the account and payment.
Savings account → eligible checking account you own → funds available → approved bank wire → purchase review and delivery. Confirm the extra transfer and any wait before you begin.
Moving funds first does not waive review or guarantee that a later wire will be accepted. Do not route a purchase through another person’s account to avoid restrictions.
This is a preparation aid. It does not approve a bank account, transfer or purchase.
A displayed account balance can include money that is not yet available to send. Recent deposits, holds or an incoming transfer may have their own availability rules. Ask your bank about the amount you can wire now.
If you transfer savings to checking, check the second account’s available balance before scheduling the wire. Do not assume the transfer is immediate simply because you can see both accounts in one app.
Keep any funds needed for bills, emergencies or required minimum balances separate from the amount you decide to use. Bitcoin can lose value; this guide explains payment preparation, not how much you should invest.
The Federal Reserve removed the federal six-per-month convenient-transfer limit from Regulation D’s savings-deposit definition in 2020. That change did not require banks to remove their own account limits or fees. Check the agreement for your exact account.
For a current example, Ally’s savings FAQ describes a limit on certain withdrawals and transfers, while its transfer guidance separately explains domestic wires. These examples show why the account rules and wire instructions both matter. They do not establish bank approval of a particular Bitcoin payment.

Describe the payment accurately. If the bank declines it, ask the bank and our team about the next permitted step. Do not alter the stated purpose to get around a restriction.
Use the beneficiary, bank, account and reference details supplied for your current purchase. Wire routing details may differ from ACH details. Stop and confirm any unexpected change using official support you contact independently.
Bank transfers move money to the purchase provider’s designated bank account. They do not send dollars to a Bitcoin wallet address. The Bitcoin purchase and wallet delivery happen afterward.
Read the wire-instruction guide and see why a bank wire cannot go to a Bitcoin address.
Our wire service fee is 8% below $100,000 wired and 5% at $100,000 or more. The rate applies to the full wire amount and is deducted from it. Your bank may charge separately. Check your final quote for any other applicable costs.
There is no minimum or maximum wire purchase amount with Crypto Dispensers. Your bank’s limits, account eligibility and required review still apply. Purchases usually process within 1–2 days, though compliance reviews can take longer. An earlier savings-to-checking transfer may add its own wait.
You approve the final Bitcoin price after funds arrive and review is complete. Sending the wire does not lock that price. Review the wire service, timing and calculator before funding.
Use this checklist to organize your next step. It stays on this page and does not submit information or approve a purchase.
Not always. Confirm whether the exact savings account can send the required payment and whether that originating account is approved for your purchase.
The advertised interest rate does not establish outgoing-wire access. Check the exact account’s features and restrictions, then confirm purchase eligibility.
Joint accounts are accepted after required verification. Confirm ownership and the payment details before sending; the bank must also support the transaction.
