What fees can apply to a Bitcoin wire purchase?

The total cost can include a bank's outgoing wire fee, the price and charges in your Bitcoin purchase quote, and any separately charged delivery cost. Which charges apply depends on the bank, provider, account, and request. There is no universal Bitcoin wire fee.

For Crypto Dispensers, review your current request and ask the wire team to clarify the quote. This guide explains the calculation; it is not a rate card, live offer, or promise that a particular fee applies.

  • Bank charge: ask your bank what it charges to send the wire and whether it is debited separately or deducted from the amount sent.
  • Purchase charge: check any explicit service or transaction fee shown in the offer.
  • Exchange-rate spread: the quoted purchase rate may differ from another market price. A spread can be built into the rate instead of appearing as a separate line.
  • Wallet delivery: ask whether the quoted Bitcoin amount is the amount that reaches your wallet, or whether a separate delivery charge or deduction applies.

Compare total dollars paid with Bitcoin delivered

Use the same intended purchase size, wallet destination, and comparable quote time. Bitcoin prices move, so offers collected hours apart are not a clean fee comparison.

Total cash outlay = the amount you fund plus charges you pay separately.
Effective cost per BTC = total cash outlay divided by net BTC delivered.

If a purchase fee or spread is already reflected in the BTC amount, do not add it to your outlay a second time. If a delivery fee reduces the BTC received, use the reduced amount in the denominator. Ask the provider if the quote does not make this clear.

Worked example: a smaller advertised fee can still cost more

Illustration only. These invented numbers demonstrate the method. They are not current Bitcoin prices, Crypto Dispensers fees, available quotes, or supported purchase limits.

  • Quote A: $10,000 funded, a $25 bank charge paid separately, and 0.1000 BTC delivered after all included purchase and delivery costs. Total outlay: $10,025. Effective cost: $100,250 per BTC.
  • Quote B: $10,000 funded, no separate bank charge, and 0.0990 BTC delivered after included costs. Total outlay: $10,000. Effective cost: approximately $101,010.10 per BTC.

Quote A has the lower effective cost per BTC even though it includes a separate bank charge. That does not establish that either provider is better: eligibility, actual terms, timing, and service also matter. Compare current offers, not these example numbers.

When is the Bitcoin price fixed?

Starting a Crypto Dispensers wire request or receiving a bank confirmation does not lock the Bitcoin price. You review and approve the final price after funds arrive and the applicable review is complete, before execution.

A change in the BTC amount while funding is in progress may reflect a market-price change rather than a new fee. Ask for the price, quoted BTC amount, fees, and any expiry to be explained together.

Questions to ask before sending the wire

  1. What amount should I send, and must any bank charge be paid separately?
  2. Which fees are included in the quote, and which are additional?
  3. Does the BTC amount shown represent the amount delivered to my confirmed wallet?
  4. When do I receive the final price, and how long do I have to approve it?
  5. What happens if I decline that price or my request cannot proceed?
  6. What funds-return conditions, charges, and processing steps would apply?

Get the answers before funding. Do not assume a return is automatic, immediate, or free. Use the verified instructions issued for the exact current request.
