01

Compare Bitcoin using the settings you will use.

Cash App and Robinhood can both be part of a Bitcoin purchase workflow. The useful question is what your particular order costs and how you will move the Bitcoin afterward. A comparison of their stock-investing features will not answer that.

Use the same amount and destination, then check whether each account can complete the purchase and withdrawal you want. Existing verification, funding availability and payment-network support matter.

02

Read the current price policy.

Cash App’s public schedule lists market buy/sell fees of 2% below $500, 1.5% from $500 to $999, 0.9% from $1,000 to $1,999, and 0% at $2,000 and above. Its page also describes spread waivers for certain purchases. Confirm the final screen, especially at a threshold. Cash App: Bitcoin fees.

Robinhood pricing depends on routing. Market maker orders have no commission; exchange-routed orders use fee tiers. This does not establish which final quote is cheaper. Robinhood: crypto order routing.

These are current policy descriptions, not quotes obtained in customer accounts. Our fee study keeps known charges separate from missing price information.

03

Compare the destination as well as the buy.

Checks for Bitcoin you intend to move
Your goalCheck before buying
A standard on-chain wallet withdrawalThe amount available to send, network, delivery option and any minimum
A Lightning paymentWhether the app accepts the recipient’s exact payment-request format
Keep Bitcoin in the platform accountAccount security, custody terms and how you would later withdraw
Sell Bitcoin for dollarsNet sale proceeds plus the later bank payout cost and availability

On a small screen, swipe the table to see every column.

Cash App advertises a fee-free standard withdrawal option with conditions. A free standard option is not the same service as a faster paid option. Robinhood lists no platform transfer fee, while network charges still apply. Cash App: Bitcoin fees; Robinhood Crypto fee schedule (PDF).

04

Use a complete-quote worksheet.

Suppose you plan to spend $1,000 and send the purchase to your hardware wallet. For each app, record the amount debited, BTC credited, separate transfer cost, expected BTC delivered and availability notice. Do not subtract a fee again if it is already included in the displayed BTC amount.

  • Compare quotes close together in time.
  • Mark funding methods that differ between the accounts.
  • Keep promotional pricing separate from standard pricing.
  • If a withdrawal option is unavailable, label the comparison incomplete.

Use the purchase quote calculator for BTC received. When selling instead, use the net-payout calculator to compare dollars reaching your bank.

05

Make the choice on the details you can verify.

An existing app can be convenient, but familiarity does not guarantee the lowest complete cost. A published zero trading fee can be valuable, but the eligible purchase type and quoted price still matter. Choose the available offer that fits your amount, destination and timing.

Before a hardware-wallet transfer, verify the complete receiving address on the wallet’s trusted screen. Our Robinhood-to-hardware-wallet guide explains that process without requiring you to expose your recovery phrase.

Buying with Crypto Dispensers

Would help with a bank-funded purchase be useful?

For a planned wire purchase, you can work with our team from preparation through final-price approval and delivery to your confirmed wallet. Ask us about your intended amount and bank account before sending funds, including any review needed for a joint, business or brokerage account.

Our wire service fee is 8% below $100,000 or 5% at $100,000 or more, applied to the whole wire amount. Your bank’s charge is separate, and other quoted costs may apply. These published wire fees are higher than the calculated app purchase fees in our fee study. If you want a team to help coordinate your purchase, talk with us about your amount and receiving wallet.

Your final price is confirmed after funds arrive, and required checks still apply. You can read one documented purchase to see the steps before speaking with us.
