Convert dollars to satoshis or sats to USD

Choose the direction, enter your amount and set the assumed price of one Bitcoin. The default $100,000 price is an example. For market context, see our crypto prices page and check its displayed update time.

Use a nonnegative dollar amount. Up to eight decimal places are supported.

Enter a positive price. The default is an example, not a live quote.

This calculator converts units before fees, price spread and other costs. It does not place an order or establish a minimum purchase. USD-to-sats results round down to whole sats for the illustration. Check your provider’s actual quote and rounding rules.

How many satoshis are in one dollar?

The answer depends on the dollar price of one Bitcoin. At an assumed $100,000 per BTC, $1 equals 1,000 sats. At an assumed $80,000 per BTC, $1 equals 1,250 sats. The number of sats in one BTC stays fixed.

These are arithmetic examples, not today’s prices, forecasts or purchase offers. A satoshi is one hundred-millionth of one BTC. Bitcoin Core defines 100,000,000 satoshis per BTC.

Our guide to buying part of a Bitcoin explains how purchase minimums, fees and wallet delivery affect a small purchase.

How to convert dollars to satoshis

Dollars ÷ price per BTC × 100,000,000 = sats

For an invented example, use $20 and a $100,000 BTC price: $20 ÷ $100,000 = 0.0002 BTC. Multiplying by 100,000,000 gives 20,000 sats before costs.

$50.00005 BTC5,000
$200.0002 BTC20,000
$1000.001 BTC100,000

On a small screen, swipe the table to see every column.

If you already have a BTC amount, the price is unnecessary for the unit conversion. Use our BTC-to-sats converter. One BTC always equals 100 million sats.

How much is one satoshi worth in dollars?

Sats ÷ 100,000,000 × price per BTC = dollars

At an assumed $100,000 per BTC, one satoshi has an arithmetic value of $0.001, which is one tenth of a cent. At an assumed $80,000 per BTC, one sat has a value of $0.0008. The price assumption changes its dollar value.

10.00000001 BTC$0.001
1000.000001 BTC$0.10
1,0000.00001 BTC$1

These figures exclude costs and do not establish a minimum sale or bank payout. To use another price, select “Satoshis to USD” in the calculator. For a BTC amount and dollar budget with illustrative costs, use our Bitcoin purchase calculator.

How fees and rounding affect the result

Check whether charges are included

Suppose an invented quote uses $95 of a $100 total payment to buy Bitcoin after $5 in charges. At an illustrative $100,000 BTC price, that produces 95,000 sats. If a $5 charge is billed on top of a $100 purchase amount, the total payment is $105. Compare the same cash outlay and destination.

Save the final BTC or sats amount in the quote and identify any separate bank or withdrawal charge. A cost already reflected in the delivered amount has already affected that result. Our small-purchase fee guide explains fixed and percentage charges.

Understand the whole-satoshi illustration

A dollar conversion can produce a mathematical fraction of a satoshi. For example, $1 at an assumed $77,000 per BTC is approximately 1,298.701298 sats. The calculator’s whole-satoshi illustration rounds down to 1,298 sats, or 0.00001298 BTC.

Dollar outputs show eight decimal places and drop any further digits. Very small positive results are labeled below $0.00000001. These display rules do not specify how a provider prices or rounds a real order.

Bitcoin’s divisibility also does not mean a service will sell, send or cash out one satoshi. Check the purchase minimum, withdrawal minimum and applicable charges for your intended payment method.

Questions about dollars and satoshis

How many sats is $1?

At an assumed $100,000 per BTC, $1 equals 1,000 sats before costs. At a different Bitcoin price, the result changes. Enter your assumed price in the calculator.

How much is 1,000 satoshis in dollars?

At an assumed $100,000 per BTC, 1,000 sats has a value of $1 before costs. Select Satoshis to USD to calculate a different price or amount.

How much is 100 satoshi in USD?

At an assumed $100,000 per BTC, 100 sats equals $0.10 before costs. This is an illustrative valuation, not a current market quote or a withdrawal minimum.

Is the calculator using today’s Bitcoin price?

The calculator uses the BTC price you enter. Its $100,000 default is an arithmetic example. It does not fetch a live price or reserve a purchase quote.

Why can the result contain part of a satoshi?

Converting a dollar amount at a chosen price can produce a fractional mathematical result. The whole-satoshi illustration rounds down. A real provider has its own quote and rounding rules.

Can I buy exactly the number of sats shown?

The calculator does not establish an available order. Your provider’s current quote, minimums, costs, eligibility and delivery conditions determine what you can buy or receive.
