Wallet swaps · Fees and quotes
The provider you choose affects your Tangem swap quote. We’ll help you compare what arrives, identify costs paid separately and read token permissions before you confirm.

Tangem’s in-app swap uses third-party providers. Tangem says it does not charge its own swap fee; blockchain costs and the selected provider’s pricing still apply. You can find that distinction in Tangem’s swap and slippage explanation, checked November 2, 2026.
The practical question is how much of the receiving asset reaches the wallet and which costs you pay outside that amount. Providers can package costs differently. A single universal percentage would miss those differences.
For the full comparison method and an editable worksheet, read our Ethereum swap fees guide. Our crypto-to-crypto swap guide covers quotes, networks and delivery from start to finish.
Tangem’s exchange help center describes a centralized provider’s exchange charge as including its commission and the network cost of sending the receiving coins back. It says the provider’s fee level may not be disclosed. For decentralized providers, Tangem lists provider and network costs. Review the current token swap window for your specific offer.
| Question | Centralized provider | Decentralized provider |
|---|---|---|
| How is delivery priced? | Check what is included in the receiving amount and any separate sending cost. | Check the quoted output and transaction preview. |
| Who handles the exchange? | Read the selected provider’s terms and order instructions. | Read the contract interaction and any spending permission. |
| What should I record? | Provider, order reference, networks, net output and extra costs. | Provider, token addresses, network, net output, permission and gas. |
A third-party provider can impose its own eligibility or verification checks. Review them before sending. A competitive price does not establish reliability, access in your region or a completion time. Tangem’s in-app swap walkthrough explains where to review the available providers.
Suppose two hypothetical providers accept the same amount of the same sending asset, valued at $1,000 for this comparison, and deliver ETH to the same receiving network. Their displayed ETH amounts already reflect their included charges. Offer A delivers 0.392 ETH with $8 of separately paid costs; Offer B delivers 0.390 ETH with $1 paid separately.
| Measure | Offer A | Offer B |
|---|---|---|
| Same sending value | $1,000 | $1,000 |
| Net ETH delivered | 0.392 ETH | 0.390 ETH |
| Costs paid separately | $8 | $1 |
| Total outlay | $1,008 | $1,001 |
| Outlay per delivered ETH | $2,571.43 | $2,566.67 |
Offer B has the lower effective acquisition cost under these assumptions. Its lower separate cost outweighs its smaller ETH output. The calculation is (sending value + separate costs) ÷ net ETH delivered. If both offers had identical outside costs, the larger net output would win this price comparison.
Hold Offer B’s figures fixed. Offer A breaks even when its total outlay equals $1,001 × (0.392 ÷ 0.390), or about $1,006.87. Subtract the $1,000 input: its separate costs would need to be about $6.87 or less to match or beat B at the displayed precision. Its assumed $8 cost exceeds that threshold.
You can repeat this test without guessing an undisclosed provider percentage. Use amounts from the same moment and a consistent value for the sending asset. These invented offers are an educational example, not quotes from Tangem or a claim about any named provider.
Some smart-contract tokens require spending permission for a decentralized swap. Tangem’s current help center explains that a required permission can be included in the same transaction and that unlimited permission is optional. The exact confirmation matters more than assuming every swap requires a separate approval payment.
Review the contract, token and allowed amount. A broad permission can remain useful to a contract after this swap, creating risk if that contract is later compromised. A limited permission may mean authorizing another swap later. Consider that exposure alongside any extra network cost.
Native ETH and an ERC-20 token have different permission requirements. Keep the required gas asset available when the preview asks for it. For Ethereum amounts and gas units, use our gwei and gas calculator guide.
For native Bitcoin swaps, our BTC-to-ETH guide and BTC-to-USDT guide explain the two-network checks. These are Crypto Dispensers guides; supported assets and networks depend on the service and current offer you choose.
Open the order status before creating another swap. Identify whether the sending transaction is pending, the exchange is processing, or the outgoing delivery is missing. Each stage calls for different evidence.
For a submitted DEX transaction that reverts, network costs can still be charged. A centralized provider’s delayed order or refund follows its own process. Avoid treating every failure as an automatic return of all funds and fees.
Price changes between quoting and completion are slippage. The permitted tolerance controls how much movement you accept; a higher tolerance can allow a worse received amount. Low liquidity can also worsen the quoted price before you submit. Review the app’s minimum-received and price-impact warnings rather than raising tolerance repeatedly to make an order succeed. Tangem explains these price risks here.
When contacting the selected provider through its official support channel, supply the order reference, asset networks and public transaction IDs. Our Bitcoin transaction ID guide helps you locate the Bitcoin sending record.
Tangem says it does not charge its own swap fee, while the selected provider and blockchain can still charge. Compare the amount expected in your wallet and all costs paid separately.
The exchange rate, included charges, liquidity and price movement can change the result. Check the exact token amount, any minimum received, and whether the quoted value is only a dollar estimate.
A promotional or pair-specific commission waiver can still leave network costs and conditions. Check the current provider offer, eligible pair, networks and net output before relying on a headline rate.
Splitting can change price impact, but each order can introduce another network or provider cost. Compare the sum of the net outputs and all separate payments for the split orders against one full-size quote.
Yes, when the sending asset, input amount and receiving network match. Account for each offer’s net output, separate costs, provider terms and custody steps. Our MetaMask swap fees guide explains its published built-in Swaps fee.
