If your Bitcoin purchase is pending, check the order status and the payment entry before trying again. The delay could involve payment authorization, bank settlement, a provider review or a Bitcoin transfer that has already been sent. Each needs a different follow-up.

Keep the order reference and the exact message you see. If money appears charged, ask the provider what happened to that order before making another payment. If you don’t recognize the transaction, contact your payment provider promptly through its official app or website.

Start with the status you can verify

Read the bank or payment-app activity alongside the crypto provider’s order tracker. The wording can differ between services, so use this table as a starting point and ask the provider to confirm your actual status.

What you see What to check next
A pending card or payment-app entry Ask whether it is an authorization hold, a settled payment or a return in progress.
An order awaiting payment, verification or review Open its official tracker and check for a required action or processing update.
Bitcoin in an account, with sending unavailable Check the provider’s settlement or withdrawal restriction and available balance.
An order marked sent, with missing wallet delivery Ask for the delivery network and transaction ID, then verify the receiving details.

A receipt for a payment and a Bitcoin transaction ID answer different questions. The order reference helps the provider trace your purchase. A Bitcoin transaction ID helps trace an on-chain transfer.

A pending charge after checkout

A bank can reserve money while a card payment is being authorized. If checkout fails, that reservation may still appear in your activity until the bank releases it.

MoonPay’s failed-purchase guidance explains pre-authorization holds and says their release depends on the bank. Its example timing isn’t a deadline for every payment method or provider. Ask about the specific entry in your account.

Check whether the amount is pending or posted, and whether the provider recorded the order as completed, canceled or failed. If the bank and provider show different results, ask the provider for payment-tracing information and give that to your bank through its official support process.

An expired checkout doesn’t prove a card was declined. A posted payment with an unresolved order needs investigation. Keep screenshots with sensitive details covered and avoid repeated purchase attempts while the first payment’s status is unclear.

An order waiting for payment or review

An order can remain open while the provider waits for funds, identity verification, payment authentication or a required review. MoonPay’s pending-order guide describes several of these causes. The label alone doesn’t identify which one applies to you.

Open the service directly and review the order tracker. If a document or authentication step is requested, complete it only through the provider’s verified process. Don’t send account credentials or verification codes to someone offering help in a message.

Bank processing and crypto delivery can also happen on different schedules. For a Crypto Dispensers ACH purchase, review the ACH settlement and delivery explanation. For a wire request, our wire delay guide covers bank and request checks.

Ask support which step is outstanding, whether you need to act, and when to follow up. Don’t send another bank payment unless the provider confirms what happened to the original one and gives you the appropriate instructions.

Bitcoin bought but not available to send

A service may show purchased Bitcoin in your account while restricting an external withdrawal. Funding settlement, account review or another restriction can affect what is available to send.

For example, Coinbase’s available-balance guidance explains that balance availability and transfer restrictions depend on the account and transaction. Other providers apply their own rules.

Check the displayed available amount and any release information in the service holding the Bitcoin. Contact that provider about a restriction. Crypto Dispensers can help with your order through us; we can’t remove a hold in another company’s account.

If the purchase is complete and your question is specifically about sending it out, continue with our withdrawal hold versus network delay guide.

The order says sent, but your wallet is empty

For an on-chain Bitcoin delivery, ask for the transaction ID (TXID) and receiving address. Check the transaction on a reputable Bitcoin block explorer or in your wallet’s transaction details. Verify the network as well as the address. The Bitcoin developer guide explains confirmation status and receiving-payment checks.

  • No transaction ID supplied: ask whether the provider has broadcast the Bitcoin transfer or is still preparing delivery. Some services use internal transfers or Lightning payments with different records, so confirm the delivery method first.
  • Transaction found with zero confirmations: it has been seen but hasn’t been included in a Bitcoin block. Network demand and the fee can affect the wait.
  • Transaction confirmed to the expected address: check your wallet’s synchronization, selected account and receiving service’s confirmation requirements. Contact the wallet or receiving platform if the balance still doesn’t appear.
  • The address or network differs from your order: contact the sender promptly and preserve the records. Recovery may be impossible; don’t assume a transfer can be recalled.

Bitcoin.org’s confirmation explanation says block timing varies. An average block interval doesn’t promise delivery within a fixed number of minutes.

Don’t give anyone your wallet recovery phrase to investigate a missing payment. A support agent can review an order reference and transaction details without using your recovery words.

When to contact support and what to include

Contact the named order provider when its stated processing window has passed, the tracker requests help, payment and order records disagree, or delivery details don’t match. Report an unrecognized or suspected fraudulent payment promptly rather than waiting for an ordinary processing window.

For an existing Crypto Dispensers order, sign in to your account and contact our team. Include:

  • The order reference and checkout provider.
  • The payment method, amount and date, including the time zone if relevant.
  • The exact status or error message and the screen where checkout stopped.
  • Whether the payment is pending, posted or returned.
  • The receiving address, delivery network and TXID if the provider says Bitcoin was sent.

Here’s a message you can adapt:

My order reference is [reference]. The provider shows [status], and my payment activity shows [pending, posted or returned]. I used [method] on [date]. Please confirm whether payment was received, whether anything is required from me, and whether Bitcoin has been sent.

Share order details privately through official support. Cover unrelated transactions, full card numbers and account numbers in screenshots. Never share passwords, one-time codes, private keys or recovery phrases.

Common questions about pending Bitcoin purchases

How long should a Bitcoin purchase stay pending?

There isn’t one deadline for every purchase. Check the provider’s estimate for your payment method and order status. Bank settlement, review and on-chain confirmation are separate steps. Follow up when the stated window passes or the records conflict.

Should I buy again to make the first order finish?

A second purchase creates another order or payment attempt. Ask support about the original payment first, especially if money appears charged or reserved.

Can support cancel the order or refund me?

Ask the provider whether the order is eligible for cancellation or a return. The answer depends on its stage and terms. Once Bitcoin is sent, blockchain confirmation and any possible refund are separate matters. A confirmed Bitcoin payment can’t simply be recalled by the network.

Can someone speed up my transfer for an extra payment?

Verify any fee proposal with the actual sending service through its official app or website. Don’t pay an unsolicited caller or recovery service to unlock funds. The FTC warns about recovery scams that demand upfront payment or personal financial information.

Sources and help with an existing order

We checked the linked official provider, Bitcoin and FTC documentation on November 7, 2026. This guide offers general troubleshooting; it doesn’t determine an individual order’s status or promise a refund, release time or recovery.

Our PayPal guide and Venmo guide explain those checkout methods. If a new purchase is what you’re researching, compare our payment options before you create an account. Account creation doesn’t place an order or resolve an earlier payment.
