Bitcoin troubleshooting
A Bitcoin withdrawal hold happens before a provider releases a withdrawal. A network delay happens after a transaction has been broadcast but has not yet confirmed. The practical starting point is the withdrawal record: check your available balance, the provider's status message and whether there is a verifiable on-chain transaction ID.
Seeing Bitcoin in an app does not always mean you can send all of it immediately. Likewise, a pending withdrawal does not automatically mean the Bitcoin network is congested. Find the stage before choosing a remedy.

| Stage | Evidence to look for | Who can clarify it? |
|---|---|---|
| Balance not yet available to withdraw | An availability date, unsettled funding or account notice | The service holding the account |
| Withdrawal requested, not yet broadcast | A queued, processing or review status | The sending provider |
| Broadcast, awaiting confirmation | A matching Bitcoin TXID with zero confirmations | The sender's wallet or provider can explain the available options |
A fourth situation is a confirmed transaction that the destination has not credited. That belongs to confirmed Bitcoin missing from a wallet, rather than a pre-send hold.
Status words vary between services. An app can use “pending” for more than one of these stages. A missing TXID in the app is a reason to ask for clarification, not proof that a provider has not broadcast the transfer.
Open the account balance details and distinguish total holdings from the amount available to send or withdraw. Look for a date, required verification or funding notice tied to the purchase.
Strike's balance guide explains that pending bank deposits can support buying and selling while remaining unavailable for sending or withdrawing. This illustrates why a completed purchase and withdrawable funds can be different states.
Swan's withdrawal instructions also direct customers to the account's availability timeline. The displayed timeline for your particular account is more useful than a processing estimate from another customer's experience.
If the balance is unavailable, check the provider's explanation and complete legitimate requests through its official app or website. Do not create extra purchases, change identities or send money to an unknown person to try to release the hold.
If the withdrawal record supplies a Bitcoin TXID, open its block-explorer link through a trusted route. Match the receiving address and BTC amount to your requested withdrawal. A provider's internal order ID is not necessarily a Bitcoin transaction ID.
A matching transaction with zero confirmations is evidence of a broadcast transaction awaiting inclusion in a block. A matching confirmed transaction moves the investigation to the destination and its crediting policy. For the general timing concepts, see how long Bitcoin takes to send.
Some providers prepare withdrawals in a queue before broadcast. Swan's pending-withdrawal explanation is one example of an account status that covers that earlier stage. Do not interpret every queue as a blockchain delay.
If a supplied TXID is not found, confirm the network and identifier with the sender. An explorer can also be out of sync or temporarily unavailable, so one unsuccessful lookup is not a complete diagnosis.
Consider two illustrative cases. In the first, a buyer owns 0.001 BTC in an app, but the account says it will become available to withdraw on a later date. There is no requested withdrawal. Increasing a network fee cannot make those account funds available sooner.
In the second, a buyer has requested a withdrawal and the matching transaction appears on the Bitcoin network with zero confirmations. The question is now about that transaction's status and the sender's supported options, not whether the bank deposit is still on hold.
Do not assume that a recipient can change the sender's transaction fee. Some wallets support fee adjustments for eligible transactions; an exchange customer must use the provider's actual controls or support process. There is no universal “release Bitcoin” button.
Before retrying a send, determine whether the earlier request is canceled, failed or still active. Two active requests can become two payments.
If the destination address and amount match and the transaction is confirmed, check the receiving wallet or exchange. It may need additional confirmations, an account action or an updated display. River's tracking guide explicitly separates confirmation on-chain from funds being available at the receiving account.
Write to the appropriate provider with a precise question: “Is this withdrawal waiting for account availability, internal processing, broadcast, or receiving-side credit?” Include the withdrawal reference and TXID if available. Never include your recovery phrase or login codes.
