Bank payment troubleshooting

Bank blocked your Bitcoin purchase?

Check the payment status before trying again. Here is what to ask your bank, which provider to contact and what to compare if you are considering a different payment method.

First, find the step that failed.

If your bank blocked a Bitcoin payment, stop repeated attempts and identify the status with your bank and purchase provider. A declined card authorization, a pending authorization and a sent wire need different follow-up. Confirm where the money is before trying another payment.

  • Declined: ask your bank or card issuer for the reason and whether the transaction type is supported.
  • Pending: ask the provider whether an order exists, and ask your issuer about the authorization status. A pending card entry does not prove a completed purchase.
  • Sent: keep the bank reference and contact the intended provider. Do not create a duplicate payment while receipt is unclear.

What should I ask my bank?

Ask whether the payment was declined, held for review, returned or sent. Confirm supported transaction types, available funds, purchase or transfer limits, beneficiary details and any additional verification. Ask for the appropriate payment reference and next step.

A bank may restrict cryptocurrency-related payments. Respect its policy. Do not change a payment description, use someone else’s account or split payments to evade a restriction.

Was it a debit or credit card?

Use our debit-card decline guide or credit-card fees and declines guide for method-specific checks. Confirm whether a failed checkout left an authorization or an actual charge before repeating it.

Was a bank wire sent or delayed?

A bank’s sent confirmation does not establish receipt, purchase approval or Bitcoin delivery. Ask the receiving provider which stage is pending. Our wire tracing guide explains which records to keep. An issue with another provider must first be checked with that provider and your bank; we cannot access or recover funds held elsewhere.

Would a guided wire purchase fit your needs?

A wire is a separate purchase option, subject to bank policy and account eligibility. It does not override a bank restriction or guarantee approval. Before changing methods, resolve the status of your first payment and compare the full costs and timing.

For our guided domestic wire service, create your account, complete the checks and wait for the approved instructions. After funds arrive and review is complete, approve your final price before purchase and wallet delivery. Estimated processing is 1–2 days and can take longer. Georgia, Washington and New York are excluded. Review wire fees and the calculator before funding.

What should I share with support?

Have the provider name, payment method, attempt date, status message and a safe reference ready. Use the secure channel shown in your account for requested documents. Do not send full bank or card numbers, passwords, one-time codes or a wallet recovery phrase in a support message.
