Compare the purchase and the wallet transfer together.

eToro publishes a 1% U.S. crypto trading fee for each buy or sell. Coinbase pricing depends on the product and order preview. If you plan to move Bitcoin to your own wallet, the transfer process and its costs matter alongside the trade fee.

eToro’s current U.S. wallet guide lists a separate portfolio-to-wallet transfer fee. Coinbase distinguishes a simple purchase from Advanced trading and from a crypto withdrawal. Comparing one platform’s trade fee with another platform’s full delivered cost would miss part of the picture.

We publish this comparison and offer crypto buying, selling and swapping services. We reviewed official documentation, not test trades. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the providers discussed. This guide focuses on U.S. personal accounts; other regions can have different products and terms.

Start with the exact trading product.

eToro’s U.S. fee page states a 1% commission when buying or selling crypto. The fee is shown separately before execution. Market prices still matter, so a transparent percentage is not the same as a guaranteed best execution price.

Coinbase simple buys show order-specific fees and a quoted price that can include spread. Coinbase Advanced uses maker/taker pricing with account fee tiers. A limit order that fills immediately can be a taker order; the word limit alone does not establish the fee.

For a fair comparison, label which Coinbase product you are using and save its actual preview. Avoid importing a published fee from a different account tier, country or trading interface. Read how Coinbase Advanced assigns fees before comparing it with a simple purchase.

Check the cost of getting Bitcoin to your wallet.

eToro’s U.S. transfer guide lists a 2% fee for supported portfolio-to-crypto-wallet transfers, with a $1 minimum and $100 maximum. The fee is charged in the cryptoasset. Minimum transfer amounts and eligibility also apply, and the guide says they can change. Check the current BTC row rather than relying on an old minimum copied into a review.

An onward transfer from the eToro crypto wallet to an external destination is another step. Its guide distinguishes externally sourced transfers and applicable blockchain fees. Confirm the process your position is eligible for and read the exact preview before buying with self-custody in mind.

Coinbase discloses an estimated network charge for an off-platform crypto send, which may differ from the network cost it ultimately pays. Check that preview and your available-to-send balance. Do not assume a balance that can be traded can already be withdrawn.

For either service, use your receiving wallet’s exact Bitcoin network and address instructions. Read our guide to buying Bitcoin for wallet delivery before comparing providers solely on the trade screen.

Bank funding and crypto delivery are separate stages.

Coinbase’s U.S. payment-method guide lists ACH and wire transfer options. A wire adds cash to the account; it is not a bank payment directly to a Bitcoin address. Bank processing, account review, trading and blockchain delivery can take different amounts of time.

For eToro, confirm the funding methods, account-name requirements, limits and withdrawal conditions shown for your U.S. account before depositing. Do not assume a feature advertised on a non-U.S. eToro page applies to you. Verify asset availability for your location on either service.

  1. Set the endpoint: BTC held on the platform or BTC received in your own wallet.
  2. Set the budget: Total dollars you can spend, including your bank’s charge if any.
  3. Open the right preview: Match asset, payment method and trade interface.
  4. Check withdrawal readiness: Review holds, minimums, transfer eligibility and fees.
  5. Compare delivered BTC: Use the same destination network and similar quote times.

Which service fits the way you want to buy?

eToro may fit someone who wants crypto alongside other investments in one platform and is comfortable with its quoted trade and transfer costs. If your priority is external Bitcoin delivery, examine the eligible transfer steps before funding.

Coinbase may fit someone who wants its hosted crypto account and a choice between simple purchases and Advanced trading. Choosing Advanced requires understanding the order type and fee tier. It does not remove account reviews, network checks or custody responsibilities.

Choose using the full quote, your required destination and your ability to manage the account or wallet. The platform with a suitable feature set for one person may not fit another. Neither a polished app nor a low headline fee guarantees a better investment outcome.

Common eToro and Coinbase questions.

Is eToro cheaper than Coinbase for Bitcoin?

There is no universal answer. Compare the eToro trade and any wallet-transfer costs with the exact Coinbase product, fee tier and withdrawal quote. Use the amount of BTC that reaches the same destination.

Does eToro’s 1% crypto fee include wallet delivery?

Its U.S. documentation separates crypto trading from portfolio-to-wallet transfer charges. Review the current transfer eligibility, minimums and fees before purchasing for an external wallet.

Is Coinbase Advanced the same as a simple Coinbase buy?

No. The trading interface and fee model differ. Check your Advanced maker/taker tier and order preview rather than applying a simple-buy fee to every Coinbase transaction.

Can I wire dollars directly to a Bitcoin wallet?

No. A bank wire moves dollars through banking instructions. A purchase service converts the funded amount to BTC under its terms and sends crypto using compatible wallet instructions.

Are the figures on this page a guaranteed quote?

No. They are a dated review of public documentation and illustrative calculations. Your location, account, asset, payment method and live order preview determine the applicable offer.
