To transfer money from Coinbase to your bank, open your cash balance, choose the withdrawal option, enter an amount, select your verified bank account and review the transfer before confirming. If you hold Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency, sell it for USD first. The amount you can withdraw depends on your available balance.

We’ll help you check where your money is, request the bank transfer and work out what to do if it hasn’t arrived. This guide focuses on a personal Coinbase account and a U.S. bank receiving dollars. Other countries and Coinbase Wallet or Base can have different options.
Find the description that matches your screen:
| What you see | Where to start |
|---|---|
| USD available to withdraw | Request a bank withdrawal using the steps below. |
| Bitcoin, Ethereum or another crypto asset | Review a sale to USD, then check your available cash. |
| USDC | Check whether your account offers an eligible USDC bank cash-out or requires conversion to USD. |
| A balance with funds on hold | Read the availability date and restriction in your account. |
| Assets in Coinbase Wallet or Base | Use the Wallet and Base section below. |
Your total portfolio value includes assets you may still need to sell. To investigate a withdrawal restriction on Coinbase.com, open Cash → US Dollar → See Balance Summary. Coinbase explains the distinction in its available-balance guide.
Sign in and select Withdraw Cash on Home. Enter the amount, choose the currency and receiving bank, then review and confirm the withdrawal.
These paths follow Coinbase’s current cash-out instructions. Some screens use “Cash out.” Follow your account’s current prompts and check the destination before approving.
Open your profile, choose Settings → Payment methods, and add a payment method. Complete the ownership verification Coinbase requests. The name on the payment method must match your Coinbase account.
Use Coinbase’s payment-method instructions for the available verification choices. Adding a bank and requesting a withdrawal are separate actions. Check that a withdrawal confirmation appears after you submit.
In the app, choose Buy & Sell → Sell, select the asset and amount, and check the destination balance. For the standard dollar-withdrawal process, choose USD. Review the quote and costs before completing the sale. On the website, start with Sell.
Coinbase may offer another destination, such as USDC. Read that selection carefully: USDC is a stablecoin, and the available cash-out choices can differ from a USD balance. Coinbase documents an eligible instant-bank option for USD or USDC in supported U.S. accounts.
After selling, check the cash balance and request the bank withdrawal separately. Our Coinbase Bitcoin selling guide explains the sale in more detail. Coinbase’s official selling instructions describe the current controls.
Read the arrival estimate for your actual withdrawal. Coinbase lists these general U.S. payment-method timings:
| Method | Published timing | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Standard bank transfer through ACH | 1–5 business days | The withdrawal’s estimated arrival and receiving bank. |
| Eligible instant bank or debit-card cash-out | Typically around 30 minutes; can take up to 24 hours | Whether your bank or card qualifies and the quoted fee. |
| Wire transfer, when offered | 1–3 business days | Availability, bank details, fees and cutoffs. |
Sources: Coinbase’s U.S. payment-method table and instant cash-out guidance. These are general estimates, with account and provider conditions.
For planning, separate three stages: funds become available → Coinbase processes the withdrawal → your bank posts the money.
For example, if a deposit hold ends Friday and you request a standard withdrawal afterward, the earlier hold period hasn’t used up the bank transfer’s processing time. Weekends and bank holidays matter when the estimate uses business days. Avoid committing the money to a time-sensitive payment until your bank shows it as available.
Review the sale and withdrawal separately:
Coinbase’s fee disclosures explain that charges vary and appear in the transaction preview. Use the current quote rather than an old fee table.
Illustrative example: Your sale receipt shows $500 credited to USD after sale costs. Your withdrawal preview then shows $495 reaching the bank and a $5 withdrawal fee. The expected payout is $495. The sale costs are already reflected in the $500 cash credit, so subtracting them again would understate the payout. These figures demonstrate the arithmetic and are not Coinbase’s fee schedule.
Start with the stage shown in your account:
| What happened | What to check next |
|---|---|
| You sold crypto, but no withdrawal appears | Look for a separate bank-withdrawal confirmation. |
| Available cash is less than your balance | Read the balance summary and any funding hold or account restriction. |
| Your bank is missing | Check payment-method verification and cash-out eligibility. |
| The withdrawal is pending | Save the reference and compare its estimate with today’s business date. |
| Coinbase shows completion, but the bank has no deposit | Ask Coinbase for the payment reference or trace details available for that method, then ask your bank to investigate. |
| The transfer failed or was returned | Read the failure message and check destination details before retrying. |
Coinbase says a deposit hold can allow trading while preventing a cash-out. Selling crypto bought with held funds doesn’t remove that hold. Its available-balance guidance also says support cannot shorten the hold time.
When you contact support, provide the date, amount, currency, status and transaction reference through the official support channel. Keep full bank details, passwords and verification codes out of public posts. Our delayed crypto-to-bank transfer guide includes a broader payout checklist.
First identify the wallet and available cash-out provider. Coinbase’s Base cash-out guidance describes integrated options through a Coinbase account or a third party, depending on location and eligibility.
Where available, open Assets → Cashout, choose the receiving payment method and asset, enter the amount, then review the provider’s confirmation. Some choices credit a Coinbase cash balance; others initiate a bank payout. Check which result the preview promises.
If you choose to send crypto to Coinbase before selling, confirm that Coinbase accepts the exact asset on the selected network and use the receiving details generated in your account. Allow for network costs and any required memo or tag. A bank account number cannot receive a blockchain transfer.
Eligible U.S. accounts may have an instant bank or card option. Availability depends on the receiving payment method. Check the actual preview; an “instant” option can still take time to arrive.
Check your available cash, payment-method limits and fees. Coinbase’s account-limits guidance explains that cash-out limits depend on the method. The maximum withdrawal can differ from your portfolio value.
For U.S. tax purposes, selling crypto for dollars generally requires recognizing the applicable gain or loss. Keep the acquisition cost, sale proceeds, dates and fees. Treat the sale and subsequent cash transfer as separate records. Consult the IRS digital-asset transaction FAQs or a tax professional about your circumstances.
Treat an unsolicited demand for crypto to unlock or recover funds as a warning sign. Use support reached from Coinbase’s app or official Help Center. The FTC warns about recovery scams. Keep your recovery phrase private.
