Account limits and verification
Open Account limits in Coinbase settings and look for Apply for increase. Before applying, check which transaction is blocked. A card purchase limit, a bank decline and a hold on funds each require a different next step.

Coinbase says it reviews eligibility and emails the decision. Its guide says the review can take up to two days. Treat that as a published estimate and check the status before relying on a higher limit.

| What happened | Where to check |
|---|---|
| Buy or deposit exceeds the limit | Check the Coinbase cap for the selected payment method and its time window. |
| Card or bank declined the payment | Ask the issuer or bank whether its own limit or security check blocked it. |
| Funds show as on hold | Check when the balance becomes available to send or cash out. Coinbase says support cannot shorten its hold period. |
| Cash out is limited | Check the available balance and the limits of the selected cash-out method. |
| The account or send is restricted | Read the specific notice and complete the requested steps through Coinbase. |
Coinbase says the option can be absent at the highest account level. The missing button alone doesn’t tell you your eligibility. Check for verification prompts and confirm which payment method you selected. Limits can change with account activity, trading history, payment type and region.
Coinbase says unsuccessful purchase attempts can count toward the daily buy limit. Check your remaining amount before trying again. If you need support, record the action you attempted, payment method, amount, time and exact message. Use the official help channel and upload identity documents only through the secure verification flow.
Suppose your debit card shows $300 remaining and you want to buy $500. Start by checking the card’s Coinbase limit and whether the increase option appears. If another eligible payment method is available, compare its own limit, fees and timing. If you already bought the crypto and can’t send it, check for a hold or send restriction instead.
