Check the issue before trying again

Coinbase down? Start with the status.

An error screen does not tell you whether a purchase failed, a transfer is pending or the service is unavailable.

Open Coinbase's official status page, identify the feature you were using and preserve the transaction details before repeating an action. Then choose the troubleshooting route that matches the evidence.

Similar symptoms can have different causes. Match your next step to the affected layer.

This is a troubleshooting guide, not a live outage alert. It does not state that Coinbase is currently down. Crypto Dispensers is not affiliated with Coinbase and cannot inspect, unlock or recover a Coinbase account. Product screens and support options may change.

01 / Start with the official incident record

Check the feature, the time and the latest update.

Visit Coinbase Status directly. Read any active incident, its affected components and the latest timestamp. A problem with one network or feature does not necessarily mean every Coinbase service is unavailable. Check scheduled maintenance as well as incident history.

Compare the report with what you were doing. Were you signing in, buying, checking a balance, depositing or sending crypto? Record when the problem began and the time zone. An old screenshot shared on social media may describe a different incident.

Coinbase's temporary outage guidance lists several possible symptoms: access failures, unavailable payment methods, balances that do not display correctly and disabled transaction functions. A blank or stale balance screen alone does not establish that your assets were lost. It also does not confirm that a transaction completed.

If there is a matching incident

Follow its updates and any instructions from Coinbase. Where available, use the status page's subscription options to receive incident updates. Do not invent a recovery deadline from a previous outage. A service returning to normal does not answer whether your individual order or transfer completed; review its record separately.

If there is no matching incident

Continue with the checks below. A public status page does not expose your private account state or prove that your connection is working. Save the exact error wording so support can distinguish a device issue from an account restriction or transaction delay.

Avoid repeatedly submitting purchases or transfers while their outcome is unclear. First establish whether the earlier instruction appears in your activity. A second instruction can create a separate financial commitment.

02 / Match the symptom to the next step

An outage is one possibility, not the only one.

The app will not load.

Try another trusted connection and restart the app or device. Check for official app and operating system updates. Coinbase's device guide also suggests trying its website through a supported browser. Change one thing at a time so you can tell what helped.

Your account is restricted.

Read the notice inside the official app or website. Follow the account specific instructions and contact Coinbase Help if they are unclear. Reinstalling an app does not remove an account restriction. If you suspect unauthorized access, use Coinbase's official compromised account process.

A crypto transfer is pending.

Check the transfer record and any available transaction hash. Coinbase explains that network confirmations and congestion can affect completion. For an incoming transfer, confirm the asset and network are supported. A bank funding hold is a separate issue from blockchain confirmation.

Use device fixes carefully.

For browser problems, Coinbase lists updates, cache and cookie clearing, extension checks and trying another browser among its troubleshooting options. Start with less disruptive steps. Clearing site data can sign you out, so make sure you can use your normal account recovery and verification methods first.

Do not apply exchange app troubleshooting blindly to a separate wallet app. Deleting an app that holds wallet access can create a different recovery problem. Never enter a wallet recovery phrase into a support chat, search result or supposed repair page.

A displayed balance may include funds on hold.

Coinbase distinguishes total account value from the amount available to transfer or cash out. Review the availability information for the relevant deposit in your account. A bank debit appearing on a statement does not, by itself, prove the funds are available for withdrawal. Use the account's current details rather than a fixed waiting period copied from an old article.

For background on the network side, see our Bitcoin pending transaction guide. It cannot determine the status of your Coinbase account.

03 / Keep a useful record

Gather evidence before contacting support.

  1. Identify the action and time.

Write down whether you tried to sign in, buy, sell, deposit or send. Record the time and time zone, device, app or browser version, and the exact error. Keep screenshots private if they show balances, account details or personal information.

  2. Check the transaction record.

Look for an order reference, receipt, transaction hash or pending entry in the official account. For a crypto deposit, Coinbase recommends checking the hash on the correct blockchain. A hash helps examine network progress; it is not the same as confirmation that a platform credited your account.

  3. Use the official help route.

Start at Coinbase Help and follow its current contact options. Keep the case reference and supply the relevant evidence through the verified support channel. Crypto Dispensers support cannot reset Coinbase credentials, release a hold or reverse its transactions.

  4. Reject requests to move funds for a repair.

Coinbase warns that impersonators create fake support channels. Its agents do not need your password, verification codes or recovery phrase, and will not ask you to send crypto to an external wallet for support. Do not install remote access software at an unexpected caller's direction.

If you suspect account compromise, use the official lock and recovery instructions promptly. Do not wait for a general outage to end before addressing a separate security concern.

Changing providers does not resolve a pending transaction.

A new purchase elsewhere is a separate decision with its own quote, eligibility, verification and timing. It does not cancel a Coinbase order or make funds on hold available. Resolve the earlier transaction's status before assuming you need to replace it. No provider can promise uninterrupted access or remove blockchain delays.

04 / Common questions

Check before repeating the action.

Is Coinbase down right now?

This article is not a live monitor. Open the official status page and check the latest incident details for the feature or network you are using. An individual account problem may need separate support even when no matching incident is listed.

Should I submit a purchase again after an error?

First check your activity and any confirmation message. An error screen does not conclusively show whether the earlier instruction was accepted. If the outcome remains unclear, ask official support before creating another order.

Does a missing balance display mean my crypto is gone?

The display alone cannot establish that. Coinbase lists balance display problems among temporary outage symptoms. Check the incident record and your account activity when available. If you see unauthorized activity, follow the security recovery process promptly.

Can another platform unlock my Coinbase account?

No. Crypto Dispensers and Coinbase are separate services. Use Coinbase's official account recovery and support process. A person who promises to unlock the account in exchange for crypto or a recovery phrase is presenting a serious warning sign.

05 / Official sources
