Cash / Service status / Purchase details

Bitcoin POP and BDCheckout.
Check the date first.

An old comparison can send you to a checkout for a service whose circumstances have changed. Before comparing prices or convenience, establish whether the route is available.

This guide explains Bitcoin POP (Point of Payment), the documented BDCheckout process and why Bitcoin Depot's May 2026 filings matter. Crypto Dispensers publishes this comparison, so we identify our own product information and link the competitor's records directly.

01 / What changed

Read the filing before the old product page.

Bitcoin Depot's May 18, 2026 current report says that the company and named affiliates filed Chapter 11 petitions on May 17 to wind down operations and facilitate an asset sale. Its accompanying announcement says its Bitcoin ATM network had been taken offline.

That announcement describes the ATM network specifically. It does not give us a verified September status for every BDCheckout location or account. We therefore describe BDCheckout below as a documented historical process, not a confirmed option for a new cash payment today.

A page that still loads is not proof a service still works.

A product FAQ, app listing or old store directory may describe an earlier operating model. Check a dated service notice and the provider's current instructions before relying on it. If you have an unresolved Bitcoin Depot transaction, use the official case information linked in the filing and preserve your records. This article does not determine anyone's claim, deadline or recovery.

Bitcoin POP availability also needs checking for your account and location. Use the current Bitcoin POP cash loading guide and its location finder before making a trip. A chain name alone does not establish that a particular register can process your load.

02 / How the documented routes differ

The register is one part of the journey.

Bitcoin POP

Generate a retail barcode in your Crypto Dispensers account. At a participating checkout, the cashier processes a Green Dot cash load. Keep the receipt. After the balance is credited, review and complete a separate eligible Bitcoin purchase and confirm its wallet destination.

The retailer does not sell Bitcoin or choose a wallet. Green Dot provides the cash loading service; cryptocurrency services are separate.

BDCheckout, as documented

Bitcoin Depot's product FAQs describe an app generated barcode for a participating retail checkout. Its March 31, 2026 registration statement describes loading cash into an account and then using those funds to buy Bitcoin.

Those documents explain the design. They do not establish current availability, transaction terms or the outcome of an individual payment after the later company filing.

A standalone Bitcoin ATM

A kiosk is a separate route. The operator, screen instructions, accepted transactions and delivery rules control the experience. A store containing a machine does not automatically participate in a retail barcode service.

Check the exact product and operator. Do not carry a barcode from one provider to a different provider's machine and assume they are interchangeable.

Two codes, two jobs.

A retail barcode connects a cash payment to an account or payment reference. A wallet address identifies a destination for Bitcoin. Neither is proof that all later steps have finished. Check the cash receipt, account record, purchase confirmation and delivery record for the stage you are trying to verify.

03 / Before handing over cash

Compare what you can actually complete.

Start with availability and eligibility.

Confirm the service is accepting new transactions, your account meets its requirements and the specific location supports your route. Resolve any uncertainty before paying. A historical footprint, an old review or a retailer logo cannot answer those questions for you.

Read the whole quote.

For Crypto Dispensers, use your current account quote. Compare the total dollars paid, balance credited, quoted Bitcoin amount and any further delivery cost. An advertised loading charge alone does not describe the whole purchase. Compare an actual quote, not a fee remembered from an older article. This guide makes no claim that either provider is cheaper.

Check timing and the exit rules.

Ask when the cash load can post, when the purchase price is set and what happens if you do not complete the purchase. Read any applicable cancellation or refund terms. Do not assume a retail cashier can reverse a later Bitcoin transaction or resolve a provider account restriction.

Keep control of the request.

Use your own account and a destination you have checked. Stop if a caller tells you to protect your money by making a crypto payment, sends a code to scan or demands secrecy. The FTC describes these kinds of payment demands in its cryptocurrency scam guidance. A familiar store does not make the caller legitimate.

For a missing payment, record the provider, amount, time and transaction reference. Contact the official support channel for the affected stage. Never send a wallet recovery phrase or password. Our buying and withdrawal guide explains the difference between account funding, a purchase and a wallet transfer.

04 / Common questions

Before you visit a checkout

Is BDCheckout confirmed available today?

This review does not confirm current BDCheckout availability. Its earlier product descriptions must be read alongside the May 2026 company filings and current official instructions.

Does Bitcoin POP buy Bitcoin at the register?

No. The retailer processes a cash load. An eligible Bitcoin purchase is a separate step after your Crypto Dispensers balance is credited.

Which service has the lower total cost?

This guide does not rank current prices. A meaningful comparison requires an available service and a current quote for the same total cash amount and delivery outcome.

Can I use a wallet QR code as a retail barcode?

No. A wallet address and a provider's retail payment barcode serve different purposes. Follow the instructions for the specific route in your own account.
